Feature Creative : Genevieve Gibson

Three and a half years ago I was fortunate enough to meet and subsequently become friends with Genevieve Gibson. Mother to three daughters, wife and friend but more interestingly, she was a creative. She was not following one career path, much like me, and like some modern renaissance woman, showed me a version a mum that I could identify with. Showing me that although we may shift from careers and various roles in our lives we don’t need to be anything more, or anything less, than our true selves. I am thrilled to interview Genevieve as our Feature Creative for May and share with you all of the wonderful creative work she does.

What’s On : May 2019

With winter well and truly on its way, you’d be forgiven for wanting to retreat indoors this May. The Mornington Peninsula boasts a wide selection of venues and indoor events and for those willing to brave the elements, some outdoor events too. The outdoor markets have packed up their tents for the cooler months and the indoor markets come alive. Bands and performing artists are set to entertain intimate crowds at cozy bars and wineries across the Mornington Peninsula. Not to mention art shows and workshops galore. My pick for the month of May? Hands down, the weaving workshop with the clever Kate of The Little Beastie, which will have you set for the perfect craft to keep you hands warm all winter!

Feature Creative : Sophie Perez

A wander through tree-lined bush tracks on the Mornington Peninsula provides a calm and a welcome caress to the soul, much like the paintings of local artist Sophie Perez. I came across Sophie’s work at one of our local art shows, Art Red Hill, last year. Her artworks reflect the essence of the Mornington Peninsula and the wider Australian landscapes, with golden and green hues, earthy browns and pops of fresh blues synonymous with the coastal region Sophie has recently made her home. In this feature we learn of Sophie’s long years of dedication to her painting practice and her insider info on other fabulous artists she has met on the Mornington Peninsula.
