Make your Father’s Day on the Mornington Peninsula

Whether you call him dad, daddy, daddy, papa, pa, pop, padre, opa, grandad, uncle, coach…there’s sure to be a guy in your life who has taught you many a lesson, cheered you on or subjected you to the best of the worst dad jokes!

Stereotypically, my dad has taught me to ride a motorbike, put up a camper trailer, milk a cow, drive a tractor, change a flat tire, ride a bike, use a drill, tie a hitch knot, how to water ski and drive a manual car. I must confess I don’t do all of these things well but I know how to do them none-the-less.

But my dad has taught me so much more than that. He has taught me how to work hard for what I want. Dad has always believed in what I wanted to do or what I wanted to be, regardless of my age or gender. Dad instilled in me a love for community, especially in sporting clubs and how the time we invest in volunteering we get back ten fold in lifelong friendships + sense of belonging that is so important in small towns. He taught me to love people for what they do, not what they say they’ll do. Dad taught me the value of friendships and how important these are in the bad times as well as the good. Dad has given guiding advice but also let me make my own mistakes…and then been right there as I – sometimes slowly – learnt my lessons. Dad taught me that its normal for guys to cry and show emotion freely. He has taught me that there is always time for a cuppa (or wine) and a chat. And lucky for me, my kids have an equally awesome dad…

But enough about them! I’ve got a few fun things you can spoil your dad with this Father’s Day on the Mornginton Peninsula. Check them out…
